Avril Lavigne 'scared for her life' before London gig

Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne was forced to cut her set short after losing her voice during her London concert date.

The singer arrived on stage 40 minutes late to last night's 'Black Star' tour date at the Hammersmith Apollo following "mechanical difficulties". Her voice then cracked during closing song 'Complicated', leaving the crowd to sing the track.

Lavigne later tweeted that she was having "one of those days", adding: "I had a bad situation right before the show that made me scared for my life - then I lost my voice tonight.

"I feel super sad but I want to thank my fans for understanding and always being there for me. I love u all more then u know xoxoxo."

She later confirmed on her Facebook page that a "security breach" delayed her arrival, adding: "Shortly before my show tonight, there was a breach in security and now the police are handling [it]".

Lavigne played 14 of her hits during the show, including 'Sk8ter Boy', 'Girlfriend' and 'I'm With You'. She also covered 'Fix You' by Coldplay, who she described as "one of my favourite bands of all time".

She is due to play her second London date this evening before a single date at Manchester's O2 Apollo.

image: Beyonce Beyonce
The ‘Love on Top’ singer publicly announced she and husband Jay-Z are expecting their first child together at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, and while she said it had been hard to conceal her baby bump, she is now “proud” to show it off to the world.
Speaking at the launch of her House of Dereon fashion line at London Fashion Week, Beyonce told CNN: “I am having so much fun, it has been the most fun time now that it has been announced.
“It was really difficult to conceal. But now I can be proud and excited about it, I'm having so much fun shopping - it's great!"
Although they were not designed as maternity wear, Beyonce, 30, is still wearing lines from her new range, and they are fitting her well.
She added: "What I'm wearing today is part of the collection; it's not supposed to be maternity wear, but it actually is really good for the maternity. We do have some things that I am still trying to rock!"

Westlife star Shane Filan sells Bond car

Westlife star Shane Filan fetched €398,000 for his James Bond 1964 Aston Martin, when it went under the hammer yesterday.
http://img.rasset.ie/000502ac-314.jpgThe silver DB5 4.2 litre sports saloon was driven by Sean Connery in the James Bond film Goldfinger and was auctioned off in the UK at the three-day Goodwood Revival motorsport and aviation event.
It was expected by auctioneers Bonhams that the car would fetch around €300,000, but it well exceeded expectations and was sold to a telephone bidder.
Sligo-born Filan, who is a car fanatic, bought the motor as a 30th birthday present to himself. However, he put it up for sale because he is always on tour and he won't get a chance to use it.
The car remains the most famous off all the James Bond Aston Martins, having appeared in five movies out of the series.

Kim Kardashian to produce new Pussycat Dolls reality series

http://i2.cdnds.net/11/35/M/music_vma_2011_kim_kardashian.jpgKim Kardashian has signed a deal to be an executive producer on a new Pussycat Dolls reality series.

The show will follow the launch of a new version of The Pussycat Dolls, with American Idol's Nigel Lythgoe acting as main producer.

Kardashian agreed to work on the programme because Lythgoe is "the best in the business".

A source close to production on the show told TMZ that the new hopefuls are "10 times better than the original group".

The Pussycat Dolls' former lineup, including Nicole Scherzinger, disbanded last year in order to pursue solo careers.

Their co-founder Robin Antin had previously spoken about hopes of rebooting the group with an entirely new lineup.

REVIEW: Katy Perry delivers sweet but satisfying treat

Katy Perry made Tulsa the last American stop of this leg of her “California Dreams Tour” on Saturday night and it was obvious she had put on this show at least 100 times before.

Concert-goers were treated to a Candy Land set and at least 20 of Perry’s catchy little cream puffs of songs, mostly light on substance, but oh, so easy to devour. She opened with “Teenage Dream,” setting the stage for a dream sequence story line that played out on big screens and helped Perry segue between songs and sparkly costumes.

"Some of my first memories are from Tulsa, so I had to come back here," Perry told the sold-out crowd, noting that her younger brother was born here and later returned to attend Rhema Bible Training Center.

Other than that bit of banter, every word uttered and move of her body seemed painstakingly scripted and choreographed.

“Waking up in Vegas” and “E.T.” were the first big crowd pleasers, but Perry’s strong vocal talents were better displayed on “Pearl,” “Not Like the Movies” and “Who Am I Living for?”

Next, she sang an acoustic-only version of “The One That Got Away.” Then she took a ride on a platform of pink cotton candy, hovering out over the furthest reaches of the arena floor while giving a beautiful performance of the bittersweet "Thinking of You." Perry’s video montage turned into the trippy boat ride scene from the original Willy Wonka movie, complete with scenes of a maniacal butcher and knives plunging into bleeding cuts of beef interspersed with cupcakes and kitty cats.

But Perry satisfied every sweet tooth with songs about cherry Chapstick kisses in front of a backdrop of candy canes, lollipops, bubbles and backup dancers that at one point included gingerbread men.

Her well-tuned pop music machine cranks out thumping dance beats. And her simple, repetitive lyrics offer just a touch of naughty here and a double entendre there, so as to give some semblance of modern “edge.”

“California girls, we’re unforgettable. Daisy dukes, bikinis on top. Sun-kissed skin so hot we’ll melt your popsicle,” she sang, with her itty-bitty, paper white costume covered in candy dots.

Super hit “Hot-n-Cold” got everyone in the arena jumping, literally, and they danced straight through "Last Friday Night," and chanted "T.G.I.F."

Perry carefully selected at least 20 audience members to join her for some dancing along to a cover of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

She closed her regular set with her anthem, "Firework," complete with pyrotechnics, and the curtain came back up for "California Gurls," which Perry finished off with a blast of white foam from a cannon onto audience members.

The Muse was one of many shops that have opened in the North Village Arts District in the past year. Richmond Wheeler said he still thinks the area is a great place. “We had very great customers,” he said. “It’s a great community.”

Justin Timberlake says man in explicit picture hacked from Mila Kunis' cell phone isn't him

Mila Kunis' phone was hacked - leaking a scandalous pic of a man thought to be Justin Timberlake.
Debra L. Rothenberg for News
Mila Kunis' phone was hacked - leaking a scandalous pic of a man thought to be Justin Timberlake.

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis might be "friends with benefits" on-screen, but the duo's relationship in real life isn't quite so kinky, a source close to the "SexyBack" singer told TMZ.
Timberlake denied reports that an explicit picture leaked from Kunis' personal cell phone - a close-up of a man's private parts - is of him.
He told the gossip site that he never sent such a picture to Kunis, nor would he ever snap and share a shot of his manhood with anyone else.
MILA KUNIS IS LATEST CELEBRITY HACKING VICTIM
Kunis is the latest celebrity target in a string of cell phone hack attacks, and four of the actress' personal photos were leaked this week - two of which do show Timberlake in situations that might suggest there's some truth to the romance rumors swirling about the actors.
The former boy-bander is sprawled across a bed without a shirt in one photo; in another, he poses with a pair of pink underwear pulled over his head.
A text message exchange between the costars was also leaked, TMZ.com reported.
Nude photos of Scarlett Johansson surfaced earlier this week when the actress' phone was hacked in yet another case of celebrity hacking, prompting her to contact the FBI, according to TMZ.
SCANDALOUS STARS: CELEBRITY SEX SCANDALS REVEALED
"The FBI is investigating the person or groups responsible for a series of computer intrusions involving high-profile figures," said Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the investigation agency.
Julianne Hough, Tom Cruise and Kreayshawn were targets of hackers in August by a group called Hollywood Leaks - whose stated mission was "Hollywood carnage." The group dug up and posted online celebrities' secret scripts, cell numbers and nude pictures.

Bruno Mars beat Eminem in rap battle

http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/image-library/partners/bang/port/376/1/1296468502-11.jpgBruno Mars has joked he beat Eminem in a rap battle and then demanded they do a song together, resulting in new track 'Lighters'.
Bruno Mars has joked his collaboration with Eminem came about after he beat him in a rap battle.
The 'Grenade' hitmaker teamed up with the rapper and Royce da 5'9" - who, as a duo, go by the name Bad Meets Evil - on the track 'Lighters' and claims the track came after he challenged the Detroit musician's lyrical ability.
Speaking about 'Lighters', he quipped to MTV: "It was a freestyle battle. I said, 'Yo, Em, if I beat you, you're gonna have to do a song with me!' I shut him down right then and there."

Along with working with the 'Lose Yourself' singer, Bruno is also excited about his next solo track, which he has recently recorded and is "extremely proud of".
He said: "I'm definitely thinking about what's next. I've got a song that I just wrote that I'm extremely proud of and I worked really hard on, and it's gonna come out soon.
"But this is just the very beginning and there's a lot more to come."

Muse : Origin Of Symmetry

The inner sleeve of Muse's second album contains an illustration by Darrell Gibbs depicting humans marching into a giant white cube. In tiny lettering above the door, a sign reads 'CHAOS'. Welcome indeed to the beautiful nightmare world of the most distorting, cartoon intense, baroque'n'roll band that Britain has ever produced.

Here comes their razorblade stuffed-toy singer Matt Bellamy, hanging from the chandelier of his overblown musical ability, electrodes screwed into his brain, singing like a harpy on fire, playing the funeral mass organ with his toes. Here's bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard sounding like Edvard Munch's backing band. And here unfolds the profane, expressionist, hyper-thrilling vista feared by all those hoping the band were just Radiohead with a Freddie Mercury complex.

http://microsites.nme.com/reviewsimg/Muse0601.jpg
In two years of public life Muse have accumulated a high-pressured mythology. Half a million copies of their debut 'Showbiz' and one iMac advert down the line, they've strewn a totemic trail of destroyed equipment, confessed to a taste for mushrooms, seances and Hector Berlioz's 'Grande Messe Des Morts', and announced, "If I couldn't do this I would not want to live".

The stakes were high. Their reinvention of grunge as a neo-classical, high gothic, future rock, full of flambéd pianolas and white-knuckle electric camp, is a precarious venture. Yet as the bloody abattoir riff kicks in on 'New Born', colliding with Bellamy's fairy dreamtime piano, it's apparent that Muse can handle their brutal arias.

Almost everything on 'Origin Of Symmetry' is overstated, but with Matt reined in by the constraints of a dirty rock three-piece, the operatic stuff is devastatingly channelled. 'Bliss' is all carnage riffs and a pleasingly corrupt lyric about innocence envy. 'Space Dementia' sets Bellamy's grand piano mastery up against vaulting rock. 'Hyper Music' burns with a genuinely new, art punk rage.

Given the ultra-vivid tones of Muse's palette - purity, insanity, corruption, virtual consciousness, Bach, metal and barking madness - it's not surprising they overstep their overstepping. A happy Bellamy singing (literally) to the butterflies on 'Feeling Good' sits oddly, and the organ fugue finale is somewhat Hammer horror, even if the track's called 'Megalomania'. But relentlessly, on 'Dark Shines', 'Screenager', particularly 'Micro Cuts' and of course 'Plug In Baby', they add vicious, original serrations to the hysterical edge of extreme rock. It's amazing for such a young band to load up with a heritage that includes the darker visions of Cobain and Kafka, Mahler and The Tiger Lillies, Cronenberg and Schoenberg, and make a sexy, populist album. But Muse have carried it off. It's their 'Siamese Dream'. Now begins the psychoanalysis.

Thom Yorke's least favourite word is 'angst'; Matt Bellamy's is about to become 'psychotic'. We're the lucky ones who get to look at the pretty shapes as the blood hits the wall.

SKYLAR’S THE LIMIT

TOP R&B newcomer Skylar Grey is glad Eminem got Rihanna to sing the hook she wrote for the pair’s smash Love The Way You Lie, as it’s brought her new opportunites.

And the American has no regrets about not pushing to sing it herself.

Skylar, whose debut single Invisible is out on September 26, told me: “I’m grateful for her doing it, because it was part of the reason the song was so massive and it opened a lot more doors for me in the music industry.

“Obviously there are hooks that I don’t want to give away, like the one from Invisible, which I felt so close to.”

Now, Skylar, right, has her own huge collaboration for her upcoming album – Marilyn Manson, 42.

She said: “I’d been a fan of Marilyn for a long time, so I called and he was willing. Soon we were hanging out, talking about the kind of song we wanted to do.”

‘American Idol’ Season 2 Alum Trenyce Thrills in West End Michael Jackson Tribute

Starring in the London production of “Thriller Live,” the top 5 finalist joins fellow "Idol" alums Jordin Sparks, Constantine Maroulis, Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young in receiving high marks for their theatrical work.

When she competed on season two of American Idol over eight years ago against the likes of Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken and Kimberley Locke, she was just known as “Trenyce.” Now, Trenyce Cobbins has joined the ranks of past Idols who are starring in theatrical musicals. But she’s done it a bit differently than finalists like Fantasia, Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young, Justin Guarini, Jordin Sparks and Constantine Maroulis, who have all headlined on Broadway. Trenyce is in London starring in the West End musical Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. How did the top 5 finalist end up the female lead in a hit British show that pays tribute to the late Michael Jackson? Fred Bronson returns from across the pond with a full Idol Worship report.
The Hollywood Reporter: What did Michael Jackson and his music mean to you while you were growing up?
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/thumbnail_large_300x401/2011/09/trenyce-publicity-09-a-p.jpgTrenyce:Michael Jackson is the epitome of greatness when it comes to being an all-around entertainer. That means writing, dancing, performing and philanthropy. He taught us how to love people, the planet, and simply groove, all with his music. As a child, I remember thinking he had magical powers when I would see him Moonwalk. He definitely set the tone for generations to come. There hasn't been another like him who could combine the passion of music and hunger for the world to be a better place in such a way that it touched continents when he passed.
THR: You're one of the lead singers performing Michael's songs in the show. But you're the only woman. How does the audience react to a female singer singing MJ's songs?
Trenyce: Most people immediately hold their breath, and I don't blame them! It's MJ! But knowing that, it gives me that extra push to be as great as I know I can be and win them over. And when I get a roaring applause at the end of the night, I know that they have approved! The good part about performing his songs for me is that I get to be the part of Michael that was bold, sexy, and in your face, as well as sensitive. I feel very powerful knowing I have the opportunity to stand there with three guys and hold my own.
THR: You’re the only American lead in the show. Lots of Idols have starred on Broadway or have done national tours in the U.S. How did you find yourself in London?
Trenyce:The opportunity first came up a while ago when I was doing Ain’t Misbehavin’ with Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis, but at the time I was committed to that show. A year later I was asked again to do Thriller Live but my manager wasn’t happy about sending me away when we were focused on me getting work in the States, so I passed. In June 2010 I was asked again and this time the casting director convinced me it was a good idea and would give me the chance to see the world and establish myself as an artist in another country, so I took the opportunity. I’m glad I did because I’ve seen and learned a lot!
THR: You were great in Ain’t Misbheavin’. Speaking of that show, it has something in common with Thriller Live in that both feature the songbooks of one artist -- Fats Waller for Ain’t Misbheavin’ and Michael Jackson for Thriller Live. How would you compare your experience?
Trenyce: Both shows pay homage to pioneers in the music world and take the audience on a musical journey. Thriller Live is a West End show, but to be honest, it strikes me more as a concert. This show allows me to tap more into my sexy side as well as my vulnerable side as a singer because MJ was such an emotional being. In Ain’t Misbehavin’, I played a character from the ’30s who was a lot more theatrical and high energy. This time, I am energetic for two-and-a-half hours straight with few breaks and I get to rock out and look hella' good while doing it!
THR: You said that you’ve seen and learned a lot. What has doing this show outside of the U.S. taught you?
Trenyce: It has been a wonderful experience. I love putting myself in the middle of something new and challenging myself to readjust. You cannot help but grow. London has taught me to enjoy sunny days and fresh air in the States a bit more. I do have a completely different view of the world now. No matter where you are, people are people. We all laugh and love the same!
You’ve also done a European tour of Thriller Live. Any differences between the West End show and the European tour?
Trenyce: Huge differences! The West End show draws more of an intimate crowd that thinks they have to be rather polite, but the audiences on tour know they are coming to a concert and scream from the moment the lights are dimmed. The sound on tour is amplified so it reminds me a lot of the Idols tour. I love the West End because I get to come home and relax in my own bed and hang out in the same place for a while. It gives me stability for the first time in eight years, as well as more of a social life. However, on the road you explore a different place every week so it’s impossible to be bored. The travel days are quite long, of course, and you can forget stability! But I love them both.
THR: What are some of your favorite cities from the tour?
Trenyce: Berlin, Paris, of course, and Monte Carlo, my absolute fave if you don’t count the $27 hamburger. The beach setting was stunning! It never felt like work. But to be honest, even in the West End it doesn’t feel like I’m working. I pass my face on six posters outside of the theater and it still baffles me. I’m in a West End show doing what I love and I’m exploring a new place and a new life – a different life. I am truly lucky.
THR: What is your life like here in London?
Trenyce: Quite enjoyable. It took me a while to settle in. Patina Miller, who is starring in Sister Act on Broadway, told me it would. But now I have my bearings and I’ve created a really nice life, one that will follow me for years because I have established friendships and professional relationships that will last a lifetime. I work every day except Monday, our dark day, and do two shows on Saturday and Sunday. I go to see other shows, usually matinees, with our cast. We hang out together for drinks and meals at Balans in Soho, right around the corner from the Lyric Theatre. I explore different neighborhoods and culture in London and still have so much more to see and do. I’ve done the touristy thing like the London Eye, the Thames, the museums and the tube. But what I enjoy the most is -- shopping! The fashion culture here is an art. I love it! My absolute turn-off about London is the weather.
THR: Do British audiences recognize you from “American Idol”? Do a lot of tourists from the U.S. come to see you?
Trenyce: Lots of people here have recognized me! I wasn't aware of the impact of  American Idol in the U.K. until I got here. Many people wait after the show to say "I recognize you," "Glad you did this show," "You've grown so much since Idol," "You look better in person” – it’s quite funny sometimes, because I forget that Idol was ever shown anywhere outside the States, so when people recognize me I say, "Wow, what a great memory you have!" And of course it is always a pleasure to have people you know visit from the States! A little dose of home always makes a show that much better.
THR: Looking back, are you happy you were on American Idol?
Trenyce: I regret nothing about Idol. It was a great learning experience. I have worked my ass off to remain a working performer/actress and I continue to do so because it is what I love. Idol was a good start -- a great one! But I've been able to add actress, producer, writer and Grammy nominee to my resume since then and it feels great! I look back at the footage now, like a page out of your yearbook, and say "Why did I wear that?" or "Why did I sing that way?" But it is never a feeling of regret. I can look at the re-runs now and think, I'm grateful. And I am glad that I can see the growth I've made over time!
THR: What’s next for Trenyce?
Trenyce: I am always aiming for the next big thing, but God has a way of showing me a better picture than I could ever paint. I will never stop aspiring to make an album, but other than that, who knows? I wear so many business hats and they all fit quite nicely. My mom wants me to have a family next -- we’ll see!
